			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In our last issue of Launchpad we addressed the need for marketing and advertising investment during a recession, to maintain market share and to enable a swift recovery when the market picks up. The question now is, how do you maximise your heavily cut marketing budget for maximum return?</p>
<p>As the marketing purse strings are tightened, businesses must look to advertise in smart and measurable ways. The good news is, you don’t have to hire the biggest agency in town to achieve this. <p>However it is all well and good having a great looking website to service your customers needs but what if no one can get to it? It is a common misconception that as soon as a website is submitted it will instantly be subject to heavy traffic and rank highly with search engines.</p>
<p>Search engine optimisation &#8211; the effective utilisation of search engines to draw traffic to a web site &#8211; is an ongoing, continually evolving process, which involves the customisation of a website to improve search engine ranking. While search engine optimisation is not a guarantee for top positioning within search engine results pages (SERPS), good rankings are more than achievable and depend on criteria such as:</p>
