Dinner’s On Me, a new business specialising in offering ‘dining experience’ gift vouchers came to Satellite Creative earlier this year requiring a website to launch and sell their new concept online. Dinner’s On Me are the only company to currently offer this type of service and many prestigious restaurants are already on board.

The website look and feel had to reflect the existing brand positioning and be pitched just right to the target audience, and to prospective restaurants who would want to be part of the scheme. The layout needed to provide the visitor with easy access to information, and clearly communicate the new concept making it easy to browse and purchase.

Satellite were delighted to have the opportunity to be involved in the marketing of such an innovative new concept, and successfully met the tight three week deadline. We designed and built a Content Management System (CMS) with integrated e-commerce and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) functionality.

The website is now being actively used as part of Dinner’s On Me’s marketing strategy, enabling them to roll out their concept to other restaurants/areas. It provides them with a professional and dynamic online presence on which to grow their business across the UK.

“We were very impressed by Satellite’s pitch, proposal and the fact that they understood our requirements so quickly, so we decided to commission Satellite to develop our concept through to a working e-commerce website.” Dave Bolas, Managing Director, Dinner’s On Me

Satellite also did a small photo shoot of the existing gift packaging

GN ReSound, the largest international hearing aid manufacturer and supplier to the NHS, required a full service solution for an upcoming show – the British Academy of Audiology Conference and Expo 2009.

The key message of ‘soft solutions for hard problems’, had to be communicated effectively to the target audience. The brief was to provide an inviting environment which would encourage potential customers to spend time at the stand. This led to a design that utilised fluid round shapes together with a variety of textures and soft ambient lighting. Allied to this was an AV presentation outlining product information and up to the minute competition winner news.
Satellite Creative played a leading role in the concept direction and development, as well as designing and sourcing a number of promotional items and giveaways.

“We required a complete branding solution which had to meet our objectives ensuring it was deliverable, memorable, affordable and effective.
We were thrilled with Satellite Creative’s response to our brief. It assured us of standout in a very competitive market.”
Ceri Whittaker, GN ReSound Marketing Manager

As one of the UK’s leading specialist tour operators, it’s imperative that Simply Travel maintain a high standard of communication to their customers. The turn of year brochure launch is their most important mailing of the year, so it is crucial that all marketing elements are effective. As an agency that recognises the value in market segmentation, Satellite Creative were able to support Simply Travel in taking a recently performed database segmentation exercise to the next stage.

The final pack design gave greater levels of flexibility, allowing sections to be easily interchanged for maximum personalisation. All aspects of the mailer from images to letter copy and offers were individually targeted to the specific segmentation groups.

“We were really pleased with the creative development process. It was very smooth, the creative fulfilled the brief and the finished article looked and worked extremely well.”

Satellite Creative were recently set the task of branding the new business to business incentive programme called ‘Grow by ReSound’ implemented by GN ReSound, a leading technology supplier to the global hearing aid market. The challenge was to create a full service, dynamic and easy to use solution for their dispensers.

Satellite Creative understood that the hearing aid industry is quite internally focussed and dispensers are used to quite dry and predictable marketing. With this in mind, the look and feel of Grow was designed be both user friendly and to instil confidence using clean typography, strong copy and fresh colours.

The Grow brand was introduced to dispensers with an innovative launch pack, followed by online marketing tools, developed to provide ongoing communication between the sales team and dispensers, enabling them to grow their business and maximise their sales and profit as a result.

The Grow website has been developed as a tool to provide ongoing communication between the sales team and dispensers. It is integral to the growth of their business. The website acts as a resource, keeping dispensers informed of available business partnerships and keeping them up to date with their current financial points, thus enabling them to grow their business and maximise profit.

Gary Hill, GN ReSound Director commented, “The development of Grow from concept to reality directly reflects why we work with Satellite Creative so frequently – great design, seamlessly carried through brand creation to print and web solutions. Satellite Creative work in close partnership with us as clients which is so important to the success of a project. Liaising directly with the sales manager and his team meant they were part of the decision process and took complete ownership of a very powerful sales tool.”

Satellite’s connection with this project came through one directors’ involvement in setting up this charitable event. He quickly identified that a professional and consistent approach needed to be taken from day 1 in promoting and advertising the event – in order to add value and substance to the appeal.

As a ‘pro bono’ project there is always a fine line between maintaining quality and the need to keep things simple and costs down. What was achieved provided clear branding and direction, with excellent standout without the need for expensive printing. As well as the logo design, Satellite created a website and over 30 printed items from leaflets and booking forms, to steward badges and a 30 page catalogue.

Backed by a dedicated team of committee members the event was vigorously promoted – firstly to artists to book space and then to the visiting public. Both achieved notable success – with over 35 painters, photographers, potters and print makers exhibiting a wealth of talent and attracting over 500 visitors during a typically wet and windy May Bank Holiday.

From left to right – Elsa Hill, Rosie Knight, Diane Halfpenny, Mike Armson, Andy Wilkinson.

The event raised £4500 for charity – £2500 for Mentmore Church restoration fund, £1000 for the Church Hall and £1000 for the Wooden Spoon. The artists and visitors alike commented to the committee on the professionalism and uniform approach to marketing, which added to the success of the event and the undertaking to do it all over again next year, with the added attraction of a music concert!

“I have had many complimentary comments about the posters and website and would like to thank Andy and Veronica at Satellite for all their hard work.”, Sue Scott, Chairman of Mentmore Arts Festival.

A few months back we were asked to produce visuals for a new food line being introduced to supermarket shelves in Autumn this year. After exploring various routes a final design was chosen, which is currently in the final stages of development.

Satellite chose to commission an illustration which would be featured in the background of the final packaging to add depth, interest and to evoke a mediterranean feel to the product.

The chosen illustrator specialises in a unique visual style involving a scraperboard. The illustrations are completely hand-made giving them a very rustic feel which suited the new brand perfectly. We are very impressed with the final result and look forward to seeing the products on the shelf shortly.

Over the past few months, Satellite have been putting together the ingredients for an online launch for one of GN Resound’s latest products. After filming took place at Amersham College some weeks ago, the interactive department have worked hard editing the footage, recording and editing sound files, producing 3D animation and in general building the presentation in Flash from the ground up.

The final presentation consisted of four stages:

A login system. A direct mailing piece was sent out in advance of the presentation date, giving each audiologist a personal login number.

A waiting area. When users landed on the site and a presentation was just about to start or was in progress they were sent to a ‘pre-presentation’ area where they could check that their computer setup had adequate video and sound capabilities. They could also access live broadcast dates and show times as well as a 360 degree interactive demo of the Azure hearing aid.

Presentation. The presentation lasted just under one hour in which GN Resound’s Paul Harrison took audiologists through the technology of the new Azure product.

Questionnaire. Following the presentation, viewers were prompted to complete the questionnaire to check they had picked up sufficient information about the product. On successful completion of the questionnaire, each audiologist received CPD points.

After the success of our green-screening experiments earlier on in the project, and the successful sign-off of our ‘pre-production preview’ the interactive team embarked on the next stage in the process: filming the final footage. We hired a professional studio set-up at a local college, and aided with technicians, ladders, gaffer tape etc we launched into two gruelling days of filming our material. Some takes took several shots and the pressure was on to meet our timeframe but all was successfully completed as planned.

Our latest project is perhaps our most ambitious to date – the launch of one of GN Resound’s flagship products, The Azure. This will be carried out exclusively on the Internet, utilising a two-week live webcast event. The project will involve an exciting range of media technologies including 3D visuals and animation, sound and streamed video, all integrated into a Flash presentation scheduled to run twice daily.

Satellite’s web and new media team spent last week developing a pre-production preview of the main elements of the ‘cast, which will feature the speaker being placed into an icy environment accompanied by various animated elements. For this, a rudimentary ‘green screen’ was constructed on the Studio floor to produce some test footage. Using chroma keying software, we then experimented with placing ourselves into various environments, with amusing results!

Check back soon to read about how the project is progressing.

One of Satellite’s more recent clients, Momentum, has been enjoying steady success since the beginning of the year. Towards the end of last year Momentum came to us requiring a website for their up and coming catered chalet business based in France.

The Chalet Peillex is based in the picturesque area of Portes du Soleil, close to the Alps, offering an abundance of both winter and summer activities. Satellite met the client’s needs by building a clean and functional site split into seasonal sections.

Earlier this week we were pleased to receive the following positive feedback from Momentum:

“Thank you for all the help and support that you have given myself and Majorie. The whole project is beginning to come together now and it is a real countdown to the off! You will be pleased to hear that all this effort is working and we have already received several bookings.”
Phil Hunt, Momentum

Satellite also designed a small campaign to promote “The Momentum Max Challenge.” A specially organised week of summer activities and challenges based in teams, aimed at friends families or colleagues.

Satellite’s thinking and design process worked brilliantly with the buzz that the task created in the studio being carried through to the presentation. We certainly all enjoyed the research – a night out at Ortega’s Leadenhall restaurant!

“We chose Satellite Creative for our new Spanish brand, Ortega, because their pitch demonstrated a good understanding of the brand values and casual dining industry from a broad brief. Their approach to the pitch was exciting and fresh and a wide variety of media was presented. This coupled with realistic prices and enthusiastic presenters secured the pitch.”
Helen Thompson – Ortega Brand Manager

Winning the three way pitch was extremely satisfying and we have now produced a complete New Openings package as well as restyling all their menus. The whole range of marketing materials, were used to launch Ortega’s latest new restaurant which opened earlier this month in Northampton.

Satellite Creative has been working with Advanced Hearing Services (AHS) throughout the year to maximise and better target sales of their product using Google Adwords. Since January 2006 the campaign has been steadily building up speed. We were delighted to hear that recently due to the efficiency of our Adwords campaign, their cost per lead has dropped significantly. The result therefore being a more effective and profitable source of lead generation than methods previously used.

About Google Adwords

Google Adwords is a system of online Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. Companies pay to have their adverts appear on the right hand side of the Google search page, by bidding on chosen keywords and phrases related to their business. The positions of ads are determined by several factors such as relevancy of keywords, clickthrough rates and bid amounts.

This allows advertisers to reach people at the exact moment they are looking for specific products and services, creating valuable targeted traffic to their website. Adwords is the perfect marketing tool for businesses wishing to generate leads or sales as well as create brand awareness.

Contact us to find out how we can use Google Adwords to assist your business.

Satellite Gets Professional

After undertaking a challenging learning process lasting several weeks, she was more than pleased to pass with flying colours!

Having a Qualified Google Advertising Professional in-house, allows Satellite to offer a more advanced and efficient Google Adwords service to all of our clients. Qualified status additionally offers benefits such as greater control over client accounts and campaigns, along with the use of expanded analytical tools and a more in-depth knowledge of the Adwords system as a whole.

As a member of the Chiltern Communications Group (CCG), Satellite Creative recently developed the branding and leaflets for a local fundraising project run by the Hospice of St Francis. ‘The Big Brick Buy’ appeal, supported by the Hemel Hempstead Gazette, encourages people to buy a brick for the new hospice building. Everyone who buys a brick will have their name added into a book of recognition.

Founded in 1979, the Hospice of St Francis provides care to people across North West Hertfordshire and the Chiltern area of Buckinghamshire. Over the years it has grown in size and is in much need of new premises. The Big Brick Buy appeal is expected to raise around £1.5 million for the construction of the new hospice building based in Berkhamsted.

During July, Omicron Communications approached Satellite with a requirement to add podcast media to their new website for Uttlesford District Council, a local authority who’s constituency includes BAA Stansted. The new site, http://www.stanstedexplained.info was launched at the beginning of July and seeks to widen public awareness of the issues surrounding a proposed expansion of the increasingly busy international airport.

In order to meet the short lead times that are associated with this type of media, Satellite performed a complete solution that included on-site voice recording, post-process editing and voiceover services to produce downloadable and portable audio versions of the written weblog entries of two key Counsellors.

You can listen to the podcasts online, at:

About Podcasting

Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio programs or music videos, over the Internet using either the RSS or Atom syndication formats, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. The term podcast, like ‘radio’, can mean both the content and the method of delivery. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. Podcasters’ web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their files; a podcast however is distinguished by its ability to be downloaded automatically using software capable of reading RSS or Atom feeds. - (Source: Wikipedia.org)

World Golf Systems plc has been a client since Satellite lifted off in 1997. We’ve worked on every aspect of their branding and corporate literature, as well as anything from advertising to websites for their worldwide TopGolf product.

Although product development is not our speciality, WGS trusted our understanding of their company in helping them to create TopPutt – a fantastic new golf game. From our crude beginnings of two large sheets of hand-painted cardboard laid out on the studio floor, through to rigorous refinement using 3D modeling and illustration, WGS was helped to go on to create the exciting new game launched in April at the London Golf Show.

We are proud to have played a contributing role in something we know is going to revolutionise the sport of golf and wish WGS the very best success with this fantastic new venture.

It’s all summed up in Satellite’s philosophy – Total Design.
